Monday Night Football

WOW! What a game. I honestly didn't think the Patriots had a shot when they were down 11 with 5 minutes to go. Brady was absolutely flawless during the last 4 and a half minutes. The Bills played very well for 55 minutes, but could not pull it out at the end, due to an idiotic mistake by Leodis McKelvin. This game really reminded of Dukes miracle minute comeback against Maryland back in 2001. Duke was down 10 with less than a minute to go, and Jason Williams scored 8 straight points in about 20 seconds. Along with Nate James' freethrows, Duke sent the game into overtime where the eventually prevailed with Shane Battier blocking a shot at the last second. The comparisons are very similar. You had:

The Star who didn't play well most of the game, but shined when it counted
Jay Williams and Tom Brady
Brady was 12 for 14 in the with 2 touch downs alone in the 4th quarter. He had played pretty solid up to that point, but he did have his moments where he looked a little rusty. He still finished 39 of 53 with 378 Yards and two TD's. Those numbers are very impressive
If you guys don't remember Jason "Jay" Williams, then look up his college stats I am convinced that if he stayed his senior year, he would have the ACC Scoring record right now. Anyways, what he did in Maryland back in '01 was simply unbelieveable. He score 8 of the teams last 10 points of regualtions in a span of 15 seconds. Definetely the best comeback I have ever witnessed.

The forgotten player who always makes the right play at the right time
Nate James and Ben Watson
Ben Watson has always been there for the Pats. He has been unreal in the red zone over his career, and he has made several clutch plays. His 2nd td catch of the 4 quarter, which put the Pats up for good, made my dad scream and wake up the neighbors.
Nate James knocked down 2 freethrows with about 23 seconds in regulation to send the game into overtime. If you watch the play where he gets fouled, you will see that he tips the ball into the cylinder, and rattles out. If he makes that, and makes the freethrow, Duke wins in regulation.

The other star who plays a great game, and also steps up at the right time
Shane Battier and Randy Moss
I really just put this in because I love talking about these 2 studs. Battier had arguably one of the best college careers of all time. He made it to the Final Four 2 times, won one National Championship, he was the co-National Player of the year his senior year, along with JWill, he was a three time National Defensive player of the year, and he had his jersey retired. Wow. Thats quite the resume. He too played a very impressive game against Maryland making the game winning block in OT.
What can you say about Randy Moss, he is one of the guys who just has pure talent. I know he has had some bad history with his behavior over the years, but he seems to have found the right place in New England. His game on monday was very impressive. He had 12 receptions with 141 yards easily outperforming his counterpart, T.O.

and finally.............

The Idiot From The Opposing Team Who Always Makes a Dumb Play
Leodis Mckelvin and Drew Nicholas
If you watch the first link below, you will see Drew Nicholas go to the line with about 49 seconds left to play with his team up by 5. He could have easily put the game away even if he had just made one freethrow. He was an 80 percent freethrow shooter going into the game, and had already missed two freethrows up to that point, so he was basically due to make those freethrows.
If you could pick one word to describe yourself, then Leodis McKelvin's would be idiot. He should have taken a knee in the endzone and let Trent Edwards soak the clock, but no. He tried to be greedy, and got busted for it. That play should go in the Best Damn Sports Show: Top 50 Bad Beats, Bluffs and Blunders. It was really that bad.
