Recap of the Western Maine Conference Championship

Last thursday was the first race of the post season in Maine as 13 teams competed at the Western Maine Conference Championships in Falmouth. Emily Atwood blew away the field in the girls race running 19:38 for the win. The time was very impressive considering the very muddy conditions. Poland's Kendra Lobley and York's Michaela Swiatek rounded out the top three by running 20:04 and 20:17 respectively. The Cape girls dominated the meet by having four runners in the top 10. They scored an unprecedented 30 points over York's 64 points and Poland's 121 points. Here were the top 10 girls from last thursday

On the boys side, Alex Moser ran away with the title posting a new course record in 16:08. Surprise freshman Silas Eastman from Fryeburg came in second posting a very impressive time of 16:37. Logan Price was third running 16:57 with his teammates Sam Johnston and Mark McCauley coming in 4th (17:10) and 5th (17:15) respectively. I can't imagine how much faster these guys could have run if the conditions were okay. Team wise, Greely took the title by having three runners in the top five and posting a total score of 41. Cape was second with 70 points, and York just barely edged Falmouth for third, 86 to 87 . Here are the top 10 for the boys race.
