The Cory and Shaw Award is given to the best male duo in the state
Cape Elizabeth
Peter Doane and Liam Simpson
The duo of Doane and Simpson should
make Cape one of the favorites in the WMC this fall. Doane had a
breakout year last fall as we saw him place 8th in Class
B. He should challenge for a top five finish this year. Simpson
placed 21st last year and will look to improve upon his
placing at Belfast this fall.
Bangor
Jonathan Stanhope and Jacob Archer
Stanhope had a breakout year last fall
as we saw him place 12th in Class A. He performed even
better on the track this year as we saw him run 2:02/4:29/9:54. Let's
hope his success on the track translates to the trails this fall. He
will be one of the many favorites to take the Class A title. Archer
placed 26th last fall. He has ran some good times on the
track as well as we saw him run 2:10 and 4:46. These two young guns
should put Bangor into the upper echelon of Class A.
Mt. Blue
Justin Tracy and Sully Jackson
Jackson and Tracy have already gotten
off to strong starts this fall as they placed sixth and seventh
respectively at the Laliberte Invitational last Saturday in Cony.
Both had outstanding spring seasons this year, and will bring Mt.
Blue to the top tier of the KVAC.
Caribou
Ron Lund and Lucas Kinney
The Caribou duo has already gotten off
to a fast start. Kinney and Lund placed second and third respectively
at the MDI relays last weekend. Lund had a breakout year last year,
and it looks as if Kinney is ready for his. This duo will lead
Caribou to the top of Class B East.
Mt. Ararat
Sam Wood and Nathan MacKenzie
The Mt. Ararat duo is already off to a
hot start as Wood and MacKenzie took the first two spots at the
Laliberte Invitational. MacKenzie had an outstanding outdoor season
this spring as we saw him post times of 4:39 and 10:01. Expect this
duo to bring Mt. Ararat to the top of a very competitive KVAC.
