Week 1 Power Rankings: Boys Individuals


1.      Silas Eastman Fryeburg

Place at States: 1st Class B 16:14.15
 

Eastman has already won his first two meets of theseason. He set the course record at the Lake Region Invitational running 14:44,and he shook off a challenge from Jack Pierce to win at Merriconeag running atime of 16:07. He will be the favorite to win his third straight Class B title.

 

2.      Dan Curts Ellsworth

Place at States: 3rd Class B 16:38.43


Curts has been dominant in his first two meets of theseason. He won handily at the MDI relays covering the 1.73 mile course in 8:56,and he won the Ellsworth invitational cruising to a time of 16:06.85. ExpectCurts to challenge Eastman for top gun in Class B.

 

3.      Josef Holt Andrews Telstar

Place at States: 3rd Class B 16:55.86


Holt-Andrews had a fantastic season on the track as wesaw him run times of 2:04/4:26/9:42. With Matt McClintock and Chase Brown goneHolt-Andrews will be the early favorite to take his first individual title inClass C this year.

 

4.      Jack Pierce Merriconeag

Place at States: 4th Class C 17:02.35

Pierce looks like he’s in top form as he ran 16:20 onhis home course. His time was good enough for second overall behind SilasEastman. Pierce will also be another favorite to take the Class C title thisyear.

 

5.      Will Shafer GNG

Place at States: 20th Class B 17:50.34

Shafer got off to a good start this season as hecruised to an easy victory at Sacopee Valley running a time of 17:32. WithShafer’s talent and raw speed, look for him to be in contention in Class B this year..
 

            6.     Jonathan Stanhope Bangor

                   Place at States: 12th Class A 17:40.52

                  Stanhope has gotten off to a great start this season as he cruised to an easy victory on his home course running a time of 16:57.43. Expect Stanhope to be in title contention for Class A this fall.


 

7.      Nathan Mackenzie Mt. Ararat

Place at States: 16th Class A 17:46.59

Mackenzie took home the win at the LaliberteInvitational covering the 2.4 mile course in 13:53. He appears to be breakingout this season and should be considered the favorite in the KVAC this year.

 

8.      Cam Nadeau Biddeford

Place at States: 5th Class A 17:05.38

Nadeau recently placed second at the SMAA relaysrunning a time of 8:42. He should be one of the favorites in the SMAA this yearand contend for the individual title in Class A this fall.

 

9.      Mohamed Barre Lewiston

Place at States: 7th Class A 17:27.44

Barre has continued to evolve over the course of theyear and he has shown what he is capable of on the track. Let’s hope hissuccess there translates to the trails. Barre placed 8th at theLaliberte Invitational running a time of 14:30.

 

10.      Ben Allen Portland

Place at States: 44th Class A 18:25.63

Allen looks poised to have a breakout year this seasonas he ran to a win at the SMAA Relays running a time of 8:39. Allen should beconsidered one of the favorites in the SMAA and Class A as well.
