This team was so ridiculously deep year that it was hard to cut it down to the top three, but no matter the outcome MDI usually had the lowest scoring trio in every meet this year. Remember, they lost front runner Maggie Painter in the post season and still put up dominating performances at Regional's and states. MDI steamrolled the competition throughout the season with wins including the Festival of Champions where they placed five runners in the top 36 overall. At the state meet, they were led Isabel Erickson's third place finish with Waylong Henggeler right behind her in fourth place. Freshmen Lydia Dacorte was their third runner that day as she placed sixth overall. With four of their top five coming back next fall, look for MDI to pursue its fourth straight Class B title.

1. Kialeigh Marston and Mary Szatkowski

This is Szatkowski's second consecutive time winning the Summer and Marissa Award after a spectacular year on the trails. Marston and Szatkowski were the two vital components in leading Bonny Eagle towards their second straight Class A title. At the state meet, Marston was the individual victor running a time of 19:34.16 with Szatkowski twenty seconds back placing fourth in a time of 19:54.44. This tandem became the most feared duo in the SMAA this fall, and got even stronger when the post season rolled around. At the Western Regional Championships, the duo placed first and second with Marston coming out on top. They had the second and third fastest times of all classes that day. With Szatkowski graduating next spring, it will be Marston's time to shine as she looks to defend her Class A title.

The Erin Hannon Award is given to the top Freshman girl in the state

and the winner is.....

Willow Parker Camden Hills

SB: 18:59.43

Parker had an outstanding Freshman campaign topped off with a 23^rd place finish at the New England Championships this past Saturday as she achieved All-New England status. Parker placed 8^th at the Festival of Champions running a time of 20:06.15 as she led her team to a runner up finish. A few weeks later she placed third at the KVAC Championships running a time of 20:42.20. Parker came up big when it counted as she placed fifth at the Class B state meet running a time of 20:18.45. Her time was the 12^th fastest time of all classes. Look for Parker to continue her dominance of the KVAC throughout her career.
